The objective of this case study is to demonstrate how effective advertising management across various social platforms led to a significant growth in ad spend and a decrease in cost per install for Nude, a fintech company that helps first-time buyers save for and purchase their first home.

Background

Nude is a financial technology company that helps first-time home buyers achieve their dream of homeownership by providing personal insights and lifestyle tweaks to help them save for and purchase their first home. The company also has global ambitions, including applying for a banking license to launch Nude mortgages and to support people through all of life's big moments, like weddings, children's accounts, and retirement.

Strategy

The advertising strategy I employed differed per platform.For example, on Facebook and Instagram I used an automated ads campaign for broad targeting and scaling. I also used manual ads campaigns for interest targeting and ads testing. I tested all elements of an ad in the manual campaigns including the header, copy, CTA and creative. I also tested different interest targeting options within various ad sets. The successful ads were copied over to the automated campaign for solely scaling purposes. I would also keep successful ads running in successful ad sets in order to achieve a lower CPI than the automated campaign. These ads and ad sets were scaled as long as the CPI was lower than the automated campaign.The majority of the ad creatives commissioned were 10-20 second video ads. They highlighted the prospect's problem and provided a solution. These ad creatives matched the branding guidelines perfectly to reduce user friction. A minority of the ad creatives I produced were UGC-style videos. These ad creatives were mostly implemented on TikTok and Snap.

Results

The results of the advertising campaign were significant. I was able to scale the paid social spend by 2000% while simultaneously reducing the cost per install by 70%. This led to several five-figure campaigns and a significant increase in app installs for Nude Finance.

Conclusion

This case study demonstrates the effectiveness of well-managed advertising campaigns across multiple social platforms. By focusing on separating campaign purposes and testing all elements of ads, I was able to achieve significant growth in ad spend and a significant reduction in cost per install. This ultimately led to increased app installs for Nude Finance, helping the FinTech app to achieve its overall growth objectives.

However, the company was facing challenges in terms of internal and external operations and performance tracking. The CEO recognised the need for a major overhaul of the company's operations in order to explore future growth options whilst maintaining client happiness.

Objective

The objective of the project was to revamp internal and external operations at Trend Z, oversee a branding revamp, and transition the company to a SaaS business model. Additionally, the project aimed to overhaul the company's performance tracking system and improve the performance of the company's 8 team members.

Approach

To achieve these objectives, the following steps were taken:1. Internal operations were revamped by streamlining client sprint models, transitioning the team from Wrike to the more user-friendly Monday.com, and creating extensive SOP and training documentation to ensure the team were working in an optimal manner.2. External operations were revamped by identifying more relevant client touchpoints, creating client-facing views of the sprints and transitioning the production team to frame.io for a more streamlined feedback system.3. A branding revamp was undertaken, which included the onboarding of external design resources, scoping out the branding revamp project and working closely with the designer to ensure deadlines were met.4. The company began transitioning to a SaaS business model, which involved working with an external development team to create wireframes for potential web and mobile apps. Again, project scoping and management were required to ensure delivery.5. Performance tracking was overhauled by implementing a complex Monday.com dashboard that tracked estimated time vs time tracked, which allowed management to predict where performance may hinder and make adjustments. I also held 1-2-1 meetings with all employees to ensure they were equipped to succeed.

I created complex board and workflow templates, imported and amended 15+ client projects and provided extensive SOP and training documentation to ensure that the team was able to use the new tool effectively. I also held two onboarding calls to explain the major changes and features to the team, as well as provided support during the entire transition period to ensure that the team was able to work seamlessly with the new tool.

Growth Rocket Apps is an award-winning app marketing agency. The agency had been in operating for several years, but had begun to face challenges with scaling its operations and maintaining consistent quality in its creative deliverables.

Solution

Whilst managing over 20 five-figure app marketing projects, I was able to revamp internal and external operations to improve efficiency and consistency. This included transitioning the agency from a single Trello board to a complex and custom Notion structure, before then moving to Monday.com to make use of automation tools for optimisation purposes. I built an employee capacity board and provided future projections of potential friction points, which provided the CEO with an opportunity to maintain client project success by making additional hires.
Additionally, I worked extensively with every team member to identify every action within their workflow that could be streamlined, optimised and automated. I then created SOP and training documentation to allow an easy transition to these optimised working structures, as well as allow new team members to be onboarded quickly.
On top of this, I worked directly with the CEO to transition the agency to a SaaS business model. The streamlining of client projects for all team members provided additional time and resources to support this transition. Working alongside external contractors, a complex SaaS structure and supporting marketing funnel was created without a drop in the quality or timeliness of client deliverables.

Background

Eddison Wordplay is the publishing brand of national journalist and playwright Robert Eddison. In an effort to expand his reach and engage with a younger audience, Eddison bought me on to grow his personal TikTok account.

Strategy

I created a strategy which prioritised optimised production of TikTok with a background of proven success. After analysing his previous content, I identified several potentially successful video series concepts. I also conceptualised a formula for creating trend-based content off the back of previous attempts.With a social media assistant to support, I set a goal to publish 14 videos a week. The majority of these videos were part of a series since there was a level of performance that I could comfortably guarantee. I also optimised the production of these videos - from scriptwriting to editing. This allowed ample production time for trend-based content, which often followed a less straightforward structure.

Results

In 4 months, the TikTok account generated 9,000,000 views and gained an additional 60,000 followers, bringing the total number of followers to 210,000. The increased engagement on the platform led to a boost in website traffic and sales.
